The team recalled catcher Robinson Cancel from Triple-A New Orleans to cover his spot on the roster. Casanova's father has passed away. May 10, 2008 Raul Casanova has been designated for assignment, according to the NY Daily News. He will report to Triple-A New Orleans if he isn't claimed off waivers by another team. Ramon Castro was activated following his bout with a hamstring injury, and Casanova was seen as expendable to make room on the roster.
