August 20, 2008 Jason Isringhausen's injury is believed to be career-theatening, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. He has a torn flexor muscle near his right elbow. Team medical supervisor Dr. George Paletta confirmed the diagnosis to GM John Mozeliak Tuesday night after reading the results from a MRI of the elbow. The tear is located to the inside of Isringhausens elbow, and causes him problems gripping the ball and flexing his wrist. Rest was advised but surgery could eventually become necessary should Isringhausen want to extend his career.
