"I want to play," Nixon said. "I have another opportunity for an opt-out in the middle of the season, but I'm not focused on that. My focus is on staying healthy and performing on the field." Nixon lost out on a bench job to Alex Romero. He won't have any fantasy value this year.
February 21, 2008 The Arizona Diamondbacks signed Trot Nixon on Thursday, according to ESPN.com. The agreement includes a minor league contract with an invitation to Spring Training. The talent-rich outfield of the Diamondback doesn't need Nixon, but the team wanted insurance on the corner of the infield with Chad Tracy still rehabbing a knee.
