Trot Nixon has accepted an assignment to Triple-A Tucson, according to MLB.com. Nixon will play left field, first base and serve as the DH while at Tucson. "I want to play," Nixon said. "I have another opportunity for an opt-out in the middle of the season, but I'm not focused on that. My focus is on staying healthy and performing on the field." Trot Nixon might find himself wearing a Diamondbacks jersey this season according to a report in the East Valley Tribune. Nixon worked out at the team's minor league facility on Sunday and according to GM Josh Byrnes "he looked good." Though this all sounds good, the team will wait until it gets a better handle on the health of Chad Tracy before the bring in any veteran bat, including Nixon, though after hitting .251 with three HR it is far from certain that Nixon could bring much even if signed. |
