The Arizona Diamondbacks signed Trot Nixon on Thursday, according to ESPN.com. The agreement includes a minor league contract with an invitation to Spring Training. The D'Backs have an interest in free agent Trot Nixon, but GM Josh Byrnes has made it clear that any deal they struck with Nixon would be of the non-guaranteed, minor-league variety. "Trot knows the landscape," Byrnes said in the Arizona Republic. "We don't want to misrepresent it for him or any of our players already." Arizona was one of four teams that watched Nixon work out Sunday. If Trot catches on with the Snakes, his chances at making the team could hinge upon Chad Tracy's health.

Trot Nixon might find himself wearing a Diamondbacks jersey this season according to a report in the East Valley Tribune. Nixon worked out at the team's minor league facility on Sunday and according to GM Josh Byrnes "he looked good." Though this all sounds good, the team will wait until it gets a better handle on the health of Chad Tracy before the bring in any veteran bat, including Nixon, though after hitting .251 with three HR it is far from certain that Nixon could bring much even if signed.
