The Indians signed Scott Elarton to a minor-league contract on Friday and assigned him to Triple-A Buffalo, according to the AP. Elarton, who posted a 10.46 ERA in nine starts for Kansas City this season, is expected to pitch out of the bullpen for the Bisons.

Scott Elarton is set to return from his foot injury next week. The Royals plan to activate him from the disabled list to start Tuesday against the Yankees, according to the KC Star. That's a tough way to get back in the mix, especially for a guy who has a 9.17 ERA in eight starts this season and allowed 22 earned runs in 26 2/3 innings on his rehab assignment.

Scott Elarton will make his fifth rehab start on Wednesday at Triple-A, and if his injured foot continue to make progress he could be back in the Royals rotation next week. "We'll be watching to see how Scotty pitches," manager Buddy Bell told the Kansas City Star. Elarton has been out since June 19 with a sprained foot.

Scott Elarton threw six shutout innings during a Triple-A rehab start on Thursday, reports the Kansas City Star. It was Elarton’s first start since being placed on the disabled list last week with a sprained right foot. Elarton allowed just two hits while striking out one in his 70-pitch outing.

Scott Elarton was put on the 15-day disabled list with a right foot injury prior to Wednesday’s loss to the Cardinals. “It’s kind of been a nagging thing,” Elarton told the Royals official website. “It’s a combination of too much pounding and getting back into shape. It’s not like a broken ankle, but it just won’t let me do what I need to do.” Elarton is 2-3 with a 9.17 ERA.

As expected, the Royals activated Scott Elarton from the disabled list to start last night's game. He allowed three runs (two earned) over five innings against the White Sox. He was making his season debut after missing the start of the campaign while recovering from shoulder surgery.

Scott Elarton is ahead of schedule with his rehab from shoulder surgery, to the point that the Royals plan to start him Saturday against Chicago, the AP reports. Elarton went 2-3 with a 4.78 ERA in five rehab starts.

Scott Elarton will make his third rehab start Thursday at Triple-A Omaha, the Kansas City Star reports. "(The shoulder) feels good," Elarton said. "I threw bullpen (Monday). The recovery is going well. I'm not expecting any setbacks. Hopefully, two more (rehab) starts, and after those two, we will see where we are at."

Scott Elarton, who underwent shoulder surgery in August, was pain free on Wednesday after throwing 25 pitches in batting practice Tuesday, according to the Kansas City Star. It was the first time he faced hitters since August. "It went very well," Elarton said. "Physically, it felt really good. I was actually surprised how I had command of the ball. The main thing right now is I had no soreness [the day after]. It is how I recover." He'll throw another session on Friday.

It feels strong. Free and easy. … The house of cards is still together." The earliest Elarton could return to game action is early May.
