The Astros and Craig Biggio have reached agreement on a one-year deal, according to the Houston Chronicle. The deal is expected to pay Biggio $5.15 million. Biggio, who turns 41 next month, is 70 hits shy of 3,000 for his career.

Craig Biggio hasn't talked to the Astros about a contract extension yet but he plans to do so soon, according to the AP. Biggio's deal expires after this season. He's currently 80 hits away from the 3,000 mark for his career.

Craig Biggio was back in the lineup after sitting out the final two games of the Astros' nine-game road trip, according to the AP. Biggio is batting .309 at home and .174 on the road this season.

Craig Biggio, who is mired in an 0-for-20 slump that has dropped his average to .248, is getting a couple of games off even though the Astros are fighting for a playoff spot, according to the AP. The plan is for Biggio to get a three-day break, counting an off day for the Astros on Thursday, before returning to the lineup on Friday at home against the Phillies.

Craig Biggio was dropped to sixth in the batting order on Tuesday as he continues to slump. The Houston Chronicle reports that Biggio hasn't batted lower than third since 1990, when he was still a catcher. Biggio is expected to get today's game off. It's not clear if the lineup change is permanent.

Craig Biggio left yesterday's game in the seventh inning due to shoulder pain that's been bothering him since the end of May, according to the Houston Chronicle. He probably won't play today but could be in the mix tomorrow. "It got better and then it got worse a little bit," Biggio said. "Just coming over the top a little bit is aggravating it. But we'll be all right. We'll get some work done on it. ... We'll get (Saturday) off and DH on Sunday."

Astros manager Phil Garner moved Craig Biggio back into the leadoff role yesterday, and it looks like the manager may stick with the Biggio over Willy Taveras, according to the Houston Chronicle. "We won a bunch of games with Biggio leading off, and maybe it's time to try that (again)," Garner said. The Astros are 20-18 with Biggio batting first and 6-10 with Taveras leading off.
