August 27, 2008 Veteran hurler Paul Byrd showed why the Red Sox added him for the playoff stretch this evening, keeping the dreaded New York Yankees in check while the offense got work done, winning 11-3. Byrd pitched six innings, allowing two runs (both earned) on five hits with two walks and five strikeouts.
