There is further confirmation that Mike Cameron is not likely bound for the Bronx, according to the NY Post. Brewers' GM Doug Melvin stated, "Yankees' GM Brian Cashman basically just wanted to tell me why he hadn't called. He said he has had a lot of things going on. I told him we're probably going to hang on to Mike."

ESPN.com reports that Brewers general manager Doug Melvin said the Mike Cameron to the Yankees trade talks are dead. "[Cashman] had called me on an idea, and I got back to him with another idea, and we haven't heard from each other since. I assume what we're talking about is no longer alive, and that's fine. I'm not upset; that's just how deals are," Melvin said.

Cameron, who is facing a 25-game suspension at the start of the season for testing positive a second time for a banned stimulant, said that he feels fine physically but that he's been having some minor mental lapses sometimes. Mike Cameron sat out Wednesday's workout to rest a sore left leg. "I felt a little something (Tuesday), so I thought I better have it looked at," Cameron told the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. The outfielder might skip Thursday's workout, as well. "If it was the middle of the season, I don't think he would have thought twice about it," said manager Ned Yost. This is no big deal, especially considering Cameron has to serve a 25-game suspension at the beginning of the year, anyway.

FoxSports' Ken Rosenthal reports the Brewers have reached a one-year agreement with Mike Cameron. The deal is pending a physical and will be for $7 million in 2008 with a $10 million club option for 2009. Cameron, who batted .242 with 21 homers and 18 steals last year, will be the Brewers' everyday center fielder, meaning Bill Hall will move to third base and Ryan Braun will shift to left field. It's worth noting, though, that Cameron will miss the first 25 games of the 2008 season for testing positive a second time for a banned stimulant, so the year will begin with Braun at the hot corner and Hall in center.
