Trying to come back from shoulder surgery, Perez now is dealing with an injured right index finger. Retirement remains a possibility for the veteran. April 21, 2006 Eddie Perez was activated from the minor league disabled list at Double-A Mississippi, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. He will play first base and DH. There is no word on when he might get back behind the plate. March 26, 2006 Eddie Perez will begin the season at Double-A Mississippi, but he isn't sure whether he will be there as a player or coach, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. He will give his surgically repaired right shoulder another month before deciding whether to play, or retire and coach. "One more month, it's that simple," said Perez. "In one month, if I feel good, I'm going to play. If I don't, I'm going to coach."
