The Pirates signed Einar Diaz to a minor league contract. Diaz will compete with Humberto Cota for the backup job behind starter Ronny Paulino.

The Dodgers acquired Einar Diaz from the Indians on Saturday in exchange for cash considerations, according to the AP. Diaz, who hasn't played in the major leagues this season, was hitting .221 for Triple-A Buffalo at the time of the trade. He will report to Triple-A Las Vegas.
