August 4, 2008 Jose Guillen went 2-for-3 with two doubles in the Royals 4-3 victory over Boston. In bigger news, Guillen took a walk for the third game in a row. This is half the total he accumulated in May, June and July. August 1, 2008 Jose Guillen was held out of the Royals lineup on Friday night with tightness in his left hip flexor, according to MLB.com. August 1, 2008 Kansas City Royals owner David Glass has come out in support of embattled outfielder Jose Guillen, according to the Kansas City Star. Glass doesn't mind Guillen's mouth, "as long as I know that he really cares, wants to win and wants us to get better. Those things are really important to me. I’m satisfied that he feels all of those things," he said. July 29, 2008 ESPN.com reports that Jose Guillen wants out of Kansas City because he feels the Royals have not kept the promises made when he signed for three years and $36 million during the offseason. However, the article points out that the main reason he is in "living hell in Kansas City" is a foul relationship with manager Trey Hillman. Guillen is ready to defer his salary for 2009 and 2010 if it helps increase his value on the trading block.
