August 13, 2008 Eric Chavez will undergo season-ending surgery on his right shoulder today, according to the SF Chronicle. August 4, 2008 Eric Chavez will have surgery on his right shoulder to repair his labrum and will miss the rest of the season, according to the AP. July 29, 2008 Eric Chavez, dealing with a torn labrum in his shoulder, took batting practice Monday. He said the shoulder didn't bother him much while hitting, but Chavez is less encouraged about throwing, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. "He looked good," hitting coach Ty Van Burkleo said of Chavez's batting practice. "It's his first time hitting live on the field and seeing the ball moving at him, and it went well." July 27, 2008 Eric Chavez described his labrum in his throwing shoulder as "shredded" after a poor throwing session Saturday, according to the SF Chronicle.
