"I was a little sore my last two or three starts," Oswalt said in the Houston Chronicle. "I don't want to risk hurting myself in the last start and have to worry about something in the offseason." Matt Albers is tentatively scheduled to start Friday in Oswalt's place.

"I mean, hopefully it goes well. I'm not going to throw 100 percent tomorrow, but I'm going to throw pretty well where I'll know by Sunday if I can go Wednesday." Oswalt was pleased with how he felt Thursday after throwing off flat ground Wednesday. He threw again Thursday, but only with enough intensity to warm up.

Still feeling sore Sunday after leaving Saturday's start with a strained left oblique, Roy Oswalt said he didn't expect to make his scheduled start on Thursday. "If I miss one (start) they could push me back or we have an off day pretty soon (Aug. 27) and they could use the off day to skip me," he told the Houston Chronicle. "I don't think it's going to be better in four days." Oswalt will try to throw on flat ground in the next day or two before making a final call, but it appears unlikely that he will take the mound Thursday.
