August 10, 2008
Zack Greinke has decided to drop his appeal of a five-game suspension, which he began serving Sunday, according to the AP. Greinke was given the suspension for hitting Nick Swisher of Chicago with a pitch in the seventh inning on August 3. Greinke said, "They said more than likely I wouldn’t beat it, so there’s kind of no point to go through with it and that more than likely it would be a waste of time. Even if you’re not guilty, the evidence is too strong against you to have a chance."
August 5, 2008
Zack Greinke has been suspended five games for hitting Nick Swisher after both teams had been warned in Sunday's game against the White Sox, according to the Kansas City Star.
