The team called up outfielder Eric Patterson from Sacramento as the corresponding move. July 26, 2008 A's outfielder Matt Murton has struggled since going to Oakland, and after going 0-for-4 today, he is now hitting just .100 since being traded. July 17, 2008 The Tampa Tribune lists A's outfielder Matt Murton as a potential trade target for the Rays. July 12, 2008 Matt Murton started in left field for his new team on Friday. He finished the game 1-for-5 with two RBI. July 11, 2008 Matt Murton will join the Athletics on Friday. He was traded to Oakland in the Rich Harden deal. To make room for Murton, the A’s optioned infielder Wes Bankston to Sacramento. Bankston hit .294 with one home run and nine RBI in nine games with Oakland.
