March 21, 2008 The Tigers are looking to acquire some bullpen help, and it appears that the Cubs' Michael Wuertz has landed on their radar, according to the Detroit Free Press. The Northsiders have apparently inquired about Brandon Inge and Marcus Thames. Wuertz has been terrific out of the Cubs pen the last three year and would give the Tigers some stability with Fernando Rodney and Joel Zumaya beginning the year on the DL.
January 21, 2008 Michael Wuertz agreed to a one-year, $860,000 contract with the Cubs Monday. Wuertz posted a 3.48 ERA and 9.8 K/9 rate in 73 games last year, but the fact that he'll receive no consideration for the closer role limits his value in fantasy.
