As rumors persist of a potential trade out of San Diego, Paul McAnulty continues to show he deserves a shot in the majors, be it with the Padres or elsewhere. The outfielder split time in left and right while going 2-for-3 at the plate with a home run and an additional run scored. That brings his spring average to .333 and while it would appear the Padres should have interest in putting him to use, McAnulty realizes that may not happen. “I’m in a pretty good situation, I think,” McAnulty told reporters after the game. “If these guys don’t want to keep me, maybe somebody else will find a use for me.” There are more than a few teams that could use his services, assuming the asking price from San Diego is right. If he does get moved, he could be a player to watch this season.

Paul McAnulty could be traded by the end of spring training. The left-handed swinger is out of options and will probably have to beat out Jody Gerut for a job, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune. McAnulty has posted pretty good numbers in the minors, but he's played very little in parts of three seasons for the Pads.
