Brewers GM Doug Melvin has heard all the talk that the team would be better off moving defensive liability Ryan Braun to the outfield, but he has no plans to do so at this time. "Right now, he's our third baseman," Melvin said in the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. "The only way you'd consider moving Ryan is if we had another legitimate, bona fide third baseman." The club could move Braun to right, Corey Hart to center and Bill Hall to third, but Melvin doesn't want to move Hall again, either. "To ask Billy to change positions for a third straight year is not something I want to do," Melvin said. "I think he got a lot better (in center) in the second half. We think Ryan will improve at third, too."

Ryan Braun captured the NL's Rookie of the Year Award Monday, finishing two points ahead of Colorado's Troy Tulowitzki. Braun was immense for the Brewers from the moment he joined the club in late May, rolling up a .324 average, 91 runs, 34 homers, 97 RBI and 15 stolen bases in just 113 games played. He also slugged .634 and had an OPS of 1.004. Best of all for fantasy owners, in most leagues you don't receive any downgrade for Braun's leaky defense (26 errors).

Brewer rookie Ryan Braun hit his 33rd home run of the season Monday night. He is the favorite to win NL Rookie of the Year and has been a tremendous asset to fantasy owners over the last four months.

Ned Yost will continue to take out Ryan Braun for defensive purposes when the Brewers are leading in the late innings, even though it costs the team one of its top hitters, the AP reports. "We have given up four- and one-run runs leads, and it always starts with an error somewhere. We don't need any extra guys on base," Yost said.

Ryan Braun did not start on Wednesday due to soreness in his right side. The manager also wanted to give him a day off. "He felt better today, but he's only had one day off since he came up (in late May)," Ned Yost tells the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. Braun did appear as a pinch-hitter.

Ryan Braun hit his 15th homer of the season on Sunday in his 50th big-league game, becoming the quickest major leaguer to hit 15 homers since Albert Pujols did it in 49 games in 2001, according to the AP. Braun is now hitting .338 on the year with 42 RBI, and he's quickly establishing himself as one of the elite at the third base position.

Ryan Braun did not play on Tuesday, but it was just a routine day off after starting 16 straight games, MLB.com reports. The rookie adds that his sore left wrist was not the reason for the time on the bench.

Ryan Braun feels like he's starting to settle in after two weeks in the majors, and he hasn't been happy with his work thus far. "I feel like I'm finally starting to get comfortable," he tells the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. "Performance-wise I feel like I probably couldn't have swung the bat much worse than I have these first couple weeks...I feel like I've struck out too much. I've swung at too many bad pitches." Braun is hitting .313-3-8-9-2 with 15 strikeouts through 13 games.

The Brewers called up hot-hitting prospect Ryan Braun from Triple-A on Thursday, according to the AP. He was hitting .342 with 10 homers and 22 RBI in 34 games this season with Nashville, and he should see the majority of action at the hot corner, replacing Craig Counsell and Tony Graffanino, who are hitting a combined .214 this season. Braun is expected to make his big-league debut on Friday.

Ryan Braun smashed his fifth homer of the spring against the Cubs on Monday, but he was sent to minor league camp after the game, according to the AP. "He's really done a nice job offensively, but he still needs to polish some of his defense," Brewers manager Ned Yost said. "He knows what he needs to do. He's really, really close." Braun, who batted .353 this spring, will begin the season as the starting third baseman at Triple-A Nashville, but assuming he sharpens up his defense, the Brewers won't be able to keep his bat out of the big-league lineup for very long.
March 15, 2007
Ryan Braun went 2-for-2 with his fourth home run of the spring Thursday. Braun, who missed a week of action with a sore elbow, is batting .458 this spring. However, he also made his third error of the spring when he threw a ball away. Braun is expected to start the year in Triple-A, where he will attempt to improve his shaky defense.
March 11, 2007
On Saturday, Ryan Braun received clearance to resume baseball activities, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. He had been shut down for a week after experiencing soreness in his right elbow. "Everything's good," said Braun. "I'm back to resuming throwing today and full-go hitting, and I'm assuming it will be a somewhat gradual process and hopefully I'll be back into games in. . . . I don't know an exact timetable but hopefully within a few days. If I had to guess, three to five, probably."
March 4, 2007
Ryan Braun did not play for the second straight day on Sunday due to a sore right elbow, according to the Brewers website. However, the injury isn't thought to be serious, so we should we him back in action soon.
March 2, 2007
Ryan Braun, one of the top third base prospects in the game, made quite the impression in his spring debut on Thursday against Oakland, going 4-for-5 with two home runs, seven RBI and a stolen base. He's expected to begin the regular season at Triple-A, but his bat could force the issue at some point during the year.
