The AP reports that the Nationals have pulled Jason Bergmann from the rotation. Bergmann (2-11) is 1-10 in his last 20 games after giving up seven runs in 2.1 innings of Friday nightÂ’s 10-5 loss to the Braves.

The pitching in Washington has been nothing short of suspect this season, but RHP Jason Bergmann provided a bit of optimism this evening though his team fell 5-4 to Philadelphia. Bergmann pitched 6 1/3 innings, allowing four runs (three earned) on six hits with no walks and four strikeouts.

Washington Nationals hurler Jason Bergmann has pitched well enough that the team has plans to use him in the rotation in the future, according to the Washington Post. "He continues to do it for us, so he can pencil himself in here for the future," Nats manager Manny Acta said.

Jason Bergmann was not as bad as his 1-8 record had made him look, and he proved that tonight with a solid seven inning performance. He surrendered just one run on seven hits while striking out seven against the Rockies.
