Shinji Mori threw 20 pitches off a mound yesterday, according to the St. Petersburg Times. He missed all of last season with a shoulder injury. "He was a little hesitant at first, then he started to let it go a little more," manager Joe Maddon said. "I think that's natural."

Shinji Mori signed a minor-league deal with the Devil Rays Monday, as expected, the AP reports. The team had released Mori last week so they could free up a spot on the 40-man roster. Mori is coming off a torn labrum in his right shoulder and likely won't be ready to start the season on time.

The Devil Rays have placed Shinji Mori on waivers, according to the Tampa Tribune. They want to remove him from their 40-man roster and re-sign him to a minor league contract, assuming he clears waivers. Mori probably won't be over the shoulder injury that cost him last season until at least May or June.
