First baseman Joe Koshansky made his first start for the Rockies since July and came through big time. His fourth inning solo home run was the only run of the game and propelled Colorado to a 1-0 victory over the San Diego Padres on Wednesday.

Joe Koshansky is starting at first base on Monday night as the Rockies begin a road trip in Milwaukee. Koshansky is starting for the injured Todd Helton. The left-handed hitter is sixth in the batting order as he and the Roks square off against Brew Crew starter Seth McClung.

First baseman Joe Koshansky has been recalled from Triple-A Colorado Springs, according to the AP. He was brought in to fill the open roster spot for Todd Helton, who landed on the DL due to his ailing back.

The Rockies purchased Joe Koshansky's contract from Triple-A on Saturday when rosters expanded. Koshansky hit .298 with 21 homers and 99 RBI prior to the promotion. Given the presence of Todd Helton at first base, the Rockies could eventually use Koshansky as trade bait.
