The Nationals called up reliever Brian Sanches on Friday, the Washington Post confirms. The 28-year-old right-hander was 0-0 with a 0.98 ERA and seven saves over 14 appearances for Triple-A Columbus.

The Phillies sent Brian Sanches to the minors on Sunday to open up a spot on the roster for Tom Gordon, who just returned from the DL. In 11 games with the Phillies, Sanches posted a 6.39 ERA.

Brian Sanches was recalled from Triple-A Ottawa Sunday to replace the injured Francisco Rosario on the roster. Sanches had a 5.40 ERA for Ottawa but a terrific 39/4 K/BB rate over 30 innings.
