Jeff Clement, who had arthroscopic surgery on his knee on September 9th, has been cleared to start running and he is about two weeks away from being cleared to begin hitting off a tee, according to the Everett Herald. "He's still got to come out and see the doctor in early January, but all indications are that he'll be OK," trainer Rick Griffin said.

Clement will miss the remainder of the season, as he is scheduled to undergo arthroscopic knee surgery on Tuesday to repair tears in the cartilage of his left knee.
September 2, 2008
After a nice August in which he hit over .300, Seattle backstop Jeff Clement started September where he had left off in July, going 1-for-4 with three strikeouts in the Mariners 6-4 loss to Texas. His average is now at .228.
August 22, 2008
Jeff Clement has raised his batting average from .165 to .220, and is third among major league rookies with a .358 average in the month of August, according to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer. He credits his surge to seeing more pitches and he said, "Obviously it's a conscious decision to take more pitches and see the ball more, but I don't think you can do that unless you're comfortable. If you're uncomfortable, you're still going to be up there hacking at everything, and I still find myself doing that in some at-bats and being too aggressive. But as long as I try to stay back and see the ball go deep, I have more success than when I don't."

Jeff Clement missed another game Saturday due to the bruised nail on his right thumb, according to the Seattle Times.
