June 12, 2008 Brian Horwitz has been handed more playing time since his call up, and Manager Bruce Bochy said he may start two games versus Oakland against a pair of left-handed pitchers this weekend, according to the SF Chronicle. The Giants will be facing Oakland lefties Greg Smith and Dana Eveland. Bochy added, "Brian is swinging the bat well. It's hard not to get him at-bats against lefties."
May 30, 2008 Outfielder Brian Horwitz has been called up from Triple-A Fresno, according to the AP. Dan Ortmeier has been placed on the 15-day DL due to a broken left middle finger. Horwitz said, "I will just play day to day. I dont know what the future is going to bring. Im happy to be here. Its all kind of surreal to me. Hanging with these guys and learning from these guys, I tried to take as much as I could out of spring training."
