It looks like the Angels should have Darren Oliver in tow next season. He only needs one more appearance to reach 60, which will kick in his $2 million option for the 2008 campaign, according to the LA Times. Olive got off to a slow start this season, carrying a 7.98 ERA through his first 19 games, but since then he's allowed only 10 runs in 48 innings.

ESPN's Jerry Crasnick reports that Darren Oliver has reached a preliminary agreement with the Angels on a one-year contract with an option for 2008. Oliver will serve as a lefty specialist and long reliever out of the bullpen.

Darren Oliver, who is getting his first start of the season for the Mets tonight, could start again on Saturday, according to the New York Daily News. New York has a doubleheader with Florida and is considering using either Oliver, John Maine, or Mike Pelfrey to start one of the games. However, if Pedro Martinez is unable to pitch until after the All-Star break, two of those three pitchers will be used by the Mets later this week.

Darren Oliver could move from the bullpen to the rotation with the injury to Victor Zambrano, according to the AP. Jeremi Gonzalez, currently playing for Triple-A Norfolk, is also an option.

If Brian Bannister is forced to go on the DL with his hamstring injury, the Mets could give next Tuesday night's start to veteran Darren Oliver, who has been pitching out of the bullpen, accoring to the New York Daily News. The team could also pull Aaron Heilman out of the bullpen or bring someone up from the minors to make the start.
