Report: Shaq to end career in 735 days
Orlando, FL (Sports Network) - Shaquille O'Neal told a Florida television news station Thursday that his basketball career will be over "in 735 days."

In an interview with Orlando's News 13 at an event at the Pine Hills Boys and Girls Club, the Phoenix Suns center said he plans to finish out the remainder of his contract. His current deal runs through the end of the 2009-10 season, and O'Neal said he would retire after that, even going so far as putting a specific number of days to his departure from the NBA.

The Arizona Republic reports that in a Monday follow-up exam in Tucson, Amare Stoudemire's torn iris showed some irritation, and his return to workouts is now slated for Wednesday. He likely will miss at least the first four preseason games.

Amare Stoudemire said the pain in his injured right eye has subsided and that he hopes to resume workouts on Tuesday, according to The Arizona Republic. "The biggest challenge for him is going to be his cardio, not having done much in two to three weeks," coach Terry Porter said after Amare has also missed time of late with a sprained ankle.
