Tony Sparano confirmed that Quincy Carter, 30, is in Davie, Florida to showcase his talents for the DolphinsÂ’ coaches and management, according to the Palm Beach Post.

ESPN's Chris Mortenson reports that Quincy Carter has had a setback in his drug rehabilitation and also has a previously unannounced case of bipolar disorder. Carter will be a free agent, and the Jets have expressed interest in having him return as their backup.

The New York Times reports that the reason Quincy Carter was away from the team during its playoff run was actually because he had enrolled in a drug rehab program. The Jets had said he was tending to his ill mother. It's unclear whether he was still participating in the NFL's substance abuse program or if he had failed another drug test.
