The wife of Tennessee Titans All-Pro defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth has filed for divorce, according to SI.com. According to court documents filed earlier in Williamson County Chancery Court, Stephanie Haynesworth alleges irreconcilable differences and inappropriate marital conduct as the reason for the divorce. She is asking for alimony and custody of the couple's two children plus Albert's oldest son, who she says she has cared for since 2004. The couple was married in October 2003. "This is a really difficult time for our family, we hope that you will respect our privacy as we work through this difficult time and keep us in your prayers," Haynesworth said yesterday in an e-mail through his agent, Chad Speck. Speck also stated that Haynesworth is working out on his own and will be ready for the 2008 season.

The Tennessee Titans started their offseason program today without their franchise player, All Pro defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth, according to the Tennessean. The Titans designated Haynesworth as their franchise player Feb. 20, but he is not under contract. The only way Haynesworth can take part would be to sign the tender worth $6.36 million, which would be 120 percent of his salary for 2007. "Albert has not signed his tender and therefore will not be participating in the Titans offseason program at this time," agent Chad Speck wrote in an e-mail Monday. Speck also stated Haynesworth is working out on his own and will be ready for the 2008 season.

Albert Haynesworth hasn’t yet made up his mind as to whether he will report to Baptist Sports Park on Monday with his teammates for the beginning of the Tennessee Titans’ off-season conditioning program, according to the Nashville City Paper. Offseason work is not mandatory, except for organized team activities (OTAs), but players are strongly encouraged to attend. Franchised players are not required to participate in OTAs and often use not reporting in the off-season as leverage in negotiations. The Titans placed the franchise tag on the defensive tackle on Feb. 20, which gives him the option of not reporting for any off-season work with the team if he so chooses.

Albert Haynesworth offered an assessment of his team's offseason, and it was far from glowing. "We need more weapons for Vince (Young). Now we need more defensive linemen. We are not doing anything. We are really just making ourselves worse the way I look at it," Haynesworth tells the Tennessean. "It doesn't look like we're trying to get better." The Titans have thus far signed Alge Crumpler, re-signed Justin Gage, and lost six players, including defensive ends Travis LaBoy and Antwan Odom. "I don't know what we are doing, I really don't. Saving this money doesn't add over to next year," Haynesworth adds.

The Titans placed the franchise tag on Albert Haynesworth Wednesday, according to titansradio.com. The team will continue trying to work out a long-term deal with the defensive tackle. "This is a step in the process with Albert," GM Mike Reinfeldt said. "This designation gives us more time to work on a long-term contract with him. He was a dominant player for us this past season and one of the key components to our success on defense." Haynesworth recorded 40 tackles and six sacks in 13 games for Tennessee last season. He'll make $7.25 million in 2008 if he's unable to agree on an extension.
