The Oakland Raiders signed offensive tackle Kwame Harris as a potential replacement for Barry Sims on the left side of the line, according to the Sporting News. Offensive line coach Tom Cable will reportedly make Harris one of his pet projects during offseason workouts and throughout training camp. The Raiders are hopeful that Cable can capitalize on Harris' intelligence and speed and make him an effective player in his zone-blocking scheme. Harris is a proven run blocker, but he tends to struggle in pass protection.

Kwame Harris has moved across the Bay. The former 49ers first-round pick agreed to a three-year, $16 million deal with the Raiders on Tuesday, the San Francisco Chronicle reports. We can only assume the Raiders did not hear the loud boos that Harris routinely received while playing for the 49ers. He should compete for a starting tackle spot.
