October 4, 2008 Joe Thornton is iffy to play in Sunday's preseason finale, but he will be on the ice for next week's regular season opener, according to the San Jose Mercury News. Thornton left the Sharks' last preseason game with a minor groin injury. October 3, 2008 Joe Thornton missed the third period on Thursday night due to a sore groin, but the injury is believed to be rather innocuous, according to The Mercury News. "His groin has been bothering him a little bit and was sore tonight so we didn't think it would be wise to play him in the third," HC Todd McLellan said. "If it were a regular season or playoff game certainly he's playing through it."
