Four-goal second period lifts Habs over Leafs
Toronto, ON (Sports Network) - Alex Tanguay scored a goal and notched three assists and Sergei Kostitsyn scored twice in the second period to lead the Montreal Canadiens to a 6-1 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs at Air Canada Centre.

Jaroslav Halak collected 24 saves for Montreal, while Saku Koivu added three helpers in the victory. Guillaume Latendresse registered a goal and two assists.

Jason Blake scored the lone goal for Toronto, which opened its regular season with a 3-2 victory on the road over the defending Stanley Cup champion Detroit Red Wings... More...

Jeff O'Neill has been invited to the Hurricanes' training camp, according to TSN. Team GM Jim Rutherford said, "In training camp, the door is open for players to make the team. That's the opportunity we'll give him. He said he plans to come in early and work out with the guys. He has the right mind-set."

The NHL offseason continues to move along and veteran winger Mats Sundin has yet to make a decision about his future, according to SLAM Sports. Asked about the status of his decision, Coach Ron Wilson, in town for summer meetings with general manager Cliff Fletcher, replied, "When I find out for sure about Mats Sundin, then I'll worry about life with or without him."
